Procrastination will kill your purpose! I know it for sure because I’ve been there countless times. What does it for me is fear. Fear can bring up feelings of stuck-ness that consumes you leaving you paralysed to action. Familiar words come to mind such as, “I have tomorrow its okay, there’s no rush I’ll do it tomorrow,” and tomorrow never comes!
Fear is our biggest enemy. Or is it? Fear can either paralyse you or motivate you. The choice is yours. What’s great is that what most of us have been taught about fear is incorrect. You see, society and childhood experiences have taught us to beware and fear, don’t trust and stop when you’re scared. We’re taught that fear shows us where we’re not meant to go and what we’re not meant to be doing. Nothing could be farther from the truth. If you allow it, fear can act as a compass showing you where to go. There is a distinct difference between being in actual physical danger and thinking that you will be in danger. Our minds can play tricks on us. Coaches, therapists and cutting edge science have proven that when we feel fear and excitement about a choice then that choice is the right one to make. Feeling stuck is what comes to the forefront when we allow ourselves to procrastinate over and over again. This behaviour can lead to feelings of worthlessness, loneliness and hopelessness. When you continuously make the choice to put things off for tomorrow, you lose your power, you give your power away to the negative talk in your mind. Don’t allow yourself to make that mistake over and over again. Instead, use fear as your compass showing you were to go. If you allow yourself to move past the fear and take action you will feel a tremendous breakthrough and an expansive energy surround you. You will come out stronger because you will have felt the fear and acted anyway!
I highly recommend reading “Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway” by Susan Jeffers and knock that procrastination in the butt!
And remember to get back up and take action!!
